Lincolnshire's Strength & Balance Service

One You Lincolnshire have recently been successful in gaining an additional targeted population service across Lincolnshire. Aimed at residences aged 65+ who are deemed at risk of falls by their Health Care Professional, the Strength and Balance Service will provide a vital support mechanism to help these people reduce their falls risk.
Kirby Lambert (Targeted Populations Lead in Lincolnshire) said:
"I am delighted we are able to offer this service to Lincolnshire residences! We can't wait to see the positive impact, and improvement in quality of life this has with service users!".
The service is commissioned as a year pilot, starting June 2023 running until the end of June 2024. it will provide a progressive strength and balance exercise programme to the older adult demographic. The service will have specific physical assessments as well as wellbeing questionnaires around fear of falling and quality of life which will be assessed at the beginning and end of the programme to indicate if there has been an improvement after they have completed the service.
The Strength and balance service follows the FaME model, falls exercise management, which is a 24-week programme consisting of specific strength and balance exercises, learning how to safe and effectively get down and up off the floor as well as some functional floor-based exercises. It will be a county wide service, delivered in local communal lounges and venues located in areas of high levels of frailty and population aged 65+.
The strength and balance team consists of Paul Norris, Paula Egger, Kirby Lambert and 5 Freelancers who will be delivering the programme across the county. We are very excited to get started and help those improve their quality of life, feel confident to move more and complete daily activities.
We wish the whole Strength & Balance team in Lincolnshire every success in the roll out of this programme!
