One You Surrey Healthy Heart Project Recap
Sarah
Head of Service
In September 2022, One You Surrey were commissioned by Surrey County Council Public Health and Surrey Heartlands CCG to deliver a community outreach project, focussed on improving detection rates for cardiovascular disease in the Guildford area. The project was expertly mobilised by Ellie Telling and Helena Hutchings, who worked tremendously hard to build up connections with local venues to deliver our checks from and promote our clinics in the local area.
Unfortunately, the pilot project will be coming to a close at the end of July, but I wanted to pass on my huge appreciation and thanks to Ellie and Helena for delivering such a successful project!
Here are some key highlights and outcomes as of the end of June:
- 527 BP and AF checks delivered
- 181 (34%) high BP readings observed (>140/90)
- 8 possible AF detections
- 8 BP readings >180/110
- 47% eligible for NHS Health Check and referred onto OYS in-house team
- 201 (38%) resided in IMD areas 1 or 2
Client feedback:
“Workplace checks are good, no effort needed or appointments to travel to and make time for”
“I thought it a wonderful service to be able to have my BP checked without the stress of getting a GP appointment”
Ellie and Helena have been fantastic ambassadors for One You Surrey, and Thrive Tribe more widely, and their contributions to the outcomes of this project and the individuals they have supported deserve to be celebrated! Congratulations and well done to you both!
