Successes
Welcome to November's update! This month we launched our new Level 2 Behaviour Change Training, and we’re really excited to share it with you. One of the things that makes this course stand out is its practical focus — it introduces a variety of behaviour change techniques that you can start using straight away to support your clients on their journey. If you’ve already completed a Level 2 behaviour change course with NCBC, you might be wondering whether this one is for you. The good news is that it’s open to everyone. You may find some topics familiar, but you’ll also discover new tools and techniques that can add to your existing skill set and enhance your practice. We’d love for you to take a look and see what it can offer you – link below.
What have we been working on this month?
I’ve started attending the Health Coach, Adult Weight Management, and DPP team meetings to gather your thoughts on the skills and knowledge you feel are essential for your roles and should be included in a learning pathway. There have already been some great ideas and conversations, which I’m now collating and grouping into themes. I’ll also be reaching out to other pathway leads over the coming weeks. The plan is to gradually develop training materials for each of the topics you’ve highlighted and refresh our existing resources. Over time, each speciality will have its own dedicated learning pathway, with clear links to all the areas you’ve told us are key to your role.
What’s New?
One topic that has come up frequently is alcohol. At the moment, we don’t offer specific training in this area — but that’s about to change. The first draft of the new training is nearly ready, and I’ll be getting feedback over the coming weeks. I’m hoping we can launch this in December.
How can you help?
If you’ve recently completed any training, such as the new behaviour change course, I’d love to hear your feedback. Thank you to everyone who has already shared their thoughts — I’m reviewing the themes and looking at what we can practically implement. I’ll include an update on any changes in next month’s newsletter. If you’d like to provide feedback, please use the form below.
Next steps
Over the next month I’ll be finalising the alcohol training; reaching out to more speciality leads (stop smoking, child weight management and health checks) to identify the skills and knowledge required for these learning pathways and start to analyse the feedback you have provided.
