Quality and Training Manager

Question
Is there a specific process at Thrive Tribe that someone can follow to increase their salary and/or take extra responsibilities? For example, extra training or a training pathway that if you follow you can pretty much guarantee a salary increase in a specific time frame? I would like to explore possibilities for personal and professional growth withing Thrive Tribe, e.g. getting an additional role in supervision, training, management, etc. Thank you!
Answer
Thank you so much for sending in this question, it’s a great one and I know it’s something many people across Thrive Tribe are curious about. Last October, we introduced a Personal Development Plan (PDP) for everyone (see the Totem post link below). The PDP is designed to empower you to take ownership of your growth and career aspirations. Rather than focusing solely on formal training, it helps you identify the skills, experiences, and knowledge you want to build, and encourages you to think more broadly about learning opportunities available to you.
A good starting point is to reflect on where you see your development heading. What types of roles or responsibilities interest you? Once you have a sense of your direction, note down any skills or experiences you may need to strengthen, and include these on your PDP. We recommend booking a career conversation with your line manager to explore this further. Your PDP can be a helpful tool to guide that discussion and to identify practical ways to create opportunities for development. Remember, your manager isn’t expected to have all the answers, but they are there to support, guide and help you think through options. Leaders, remember you have the Disruptive Leaders platform for guidance on career conversations.
To use your example of training: first consider what “training” means for you. Are you interested in delivering training sessions? Creating training materials? Facilitating workshops? Once you know this, think about the experience you already have and which skills you’d like to sharpen. From there, you can begin to look for informal opportunities — presenting in a team meeting, co delivering a session, shadowing a colleague, or taking the lead on a small internal training piece. These can all be valuable ways to practise, build confidence and experience.
Thrive Tribe is continuing to grow, and new roles and project opportunities that include a salary increment do arise, which your line manager or HoS will be able to keep you informed of. The other opportunity: when someone joins as a practitioner, there is a mid-point in the pay band, which after a period of time, if the service deems it requires a specialist approach, that individual can continue to progress through the band taking on that specialist role.
We’d encourage you to check Totem regularly to stay updated on internal vacancies and project call outs. Not all projects come with a salary increase, but they do offer great chances to build experience, develop skills, and be more visible across the organisation. Most importantly, we want to support you to become the best version of yourself, whether that leads to a new opportunity within Thrive Tribe or helps you prepare confidently for your next step externally.
