Workplace Wellbeing Top Tips
Oliver
Mental wellbeing, and work wellbeing are always of utmost importance to us all, but it can feel even more prominent in January! Having a great strategy to support your mental wellbeing while at work is a great way to reduce these feelings, and create a more harmonious and enjoyable work-life balance.
Below are some 'quick tips' from Mind to help with this.
- Be realistic.
You don't have to be "perfect" all the time. If your workload is a little too much, speak to your teammates and line manager about sharing the workload where possible.
- Reward yourself.
It's easy to focus on the next task, instead of rewarding yourself for what you've already accomplished!
- Develop good relationships.
Connect with your teammates and over time build up your very own support network making work more fun and enjoyable.
- Balance your time.
Occasionally, you may need to work for longer periods of time. Try not to make this the normal, and break it down into smaller chunks.
- Create an end of day routine.
Tidying your workspace, or creating a 'to-do list for tomorrow can help your mind switch off from work. It also sets up the start of the next day for you. A double-win if you wish!
- Don't let your life be work.
Nurture your outside work habits, skills and hobbies that your role doesn't utilise. Remember, you can only be the best version of you, when you invest in yourself!
- Recognise what works for you.
Give it some thought. What works for you, and what doesn't? Try to create an equal balance between the two, where you can. Speak to colleague in peer reflection sessions and the teams around you, or your line manager - all of whom could suggest some great ideas. Afterall, they say a problem shared, is a problem halved.
- Don't do too much at once.
Give each task your full focus, before moving to the next. Often balancing many things takes longer overall, and can add to the feelings of pressure
