Martyn's Marathon Mission!

Last year my step daughter Sophie was diagnosed with Coeliac disease. As some of you may know, she loves to bake and I love to cook. Adapting recipes and avoiding cross contamination has taken a lot of getting used to. We are now a two toaster household! Coeliac UK have been there to answer questions, link Sophie with other teenagers, do live baking with Becky Excel and to help us find safe places to eat out.
The marathon I'm completing is as much about fundraising as it is about me ticking off a bucket list drea! Before my knees totally give out I want to complete 26.2 miles. I've always been interested in running but it has become much more of a hobby for me after having to stop playing football. Whilst running with no cartilage and arthritis in my knee isn't ideal, the benefits for me outway the negatives. Running is great for my mental health and a real release when I need it. Working as health and wellbeing coach in Lincolnshire, I really try to reflect on how I feel and what I need. I have found that having a challenge is so important to stay motivated and focused. I often run with my dog Alfie who is also really happy for the exercise and as yet, I'm yet to tire out.
The marathon is the 25th of May and training has not gone to plan, with having to have 6 weeks off due to injury! I have recently started running again, but I am having to build up really slowly so I won't be anywhere near as prepared as I would of liked.
It would mean a lot to me if you could spare anything you can give for this great cause and in support of me. I did a half marathon earlier this year and it was a struggle. I think I am going to have to summon all my mental strength and every single knee support to get through this one!
If you are able to support me, you can do so via my Just Giving Link which you can access here.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Remember every little helps guys.
