Learning and Development Updates May 2026
Amanda
Quality and Training Manager

Another month has flown by and it’s nearly the end of May. As always lots has been going on to update you with!
What have we been working on this month?
This week our Thriving Nottingham office hosted our first in-person leaders development day, where we welcomed leaders from across our services in the midlands and north of England. Sandra Howarth delivered an interactive session on coaching conversations and managing difficult situations. The afternoon was a scoping session looking at what we currently have available for leaders to support them in their role and career development and where the gaps are. This qualitative feedback, combined with the quantitative data from our all-staff survey is going to help shape what our leadership development programme looks like moving forward. Our next session is taking place on the 4th June in our Stratford office for our services in London and the south of England, which I’m looking forward to.
The all-staff survey I’ve just mentioned was launched last week. It is an opportunity for us to look at how we perceive we are managed across all levels of Thrive Tribe. It is completely anonymous and focuses on 5 key areas; clarity (role / objectives), support and availability of managers, coaching and development conversations, feedback and performance and team environment. We’ve already had a great response with just shy of 90 people across all levels of Thrive Tribe completing the survey. If you haven’t yet completed it, please use the link below.
Over the past year, with the help and guidance of wonderful colleagues we have launched a range of self-directed learning modules to support the learning and development of our staff as well as offering a variety of live training sessions. All of these are available on Totem; self-directed modules via the People's Portal > Resources & Training > Training. For live sessions, visit the What's on calendar and remember to click the "next" button in the top right hand corner to see what is happening throughout the year. The range of modules offered is continually growing and if it is something you would like to get involved with, please reach out to me at [email protected]
How can you help?
Last week I posted on Totem, reaching out to stop smoking advisors who may be interested in getting involved in content writing for the new stop smoking learning pathway. If this is something you are interested in, please click on the link below and I will be reaching out to everyone at the end of the month.
If you haven’t yet completed the all-staff survey, please take a few minutes to do so. It is only through honest feedback that we can see what we are doing well and where we can develop.
