Successes
As mentioned last month, we’ve been busy developing two new learning modules, and we’re pleased to now share them with you. The first module focuses on hypertension. This was initially developed in response to the new Long-Term Health Conditions (LTHC) programme being delivered by our Healthier You teams. To support colleagues running the programme, Pam, our DPP Lead for the North West, delivered a training session on hypertension. We recorded this session and have included it within the module to support your self-directed learning.
While the module was created with the LTHC programme in mind, hypertension is a common condition—affecting 1 in 3 adults in the UK—and is relevant to clients across many Thrive Tribe services. This module offers a valuable opportunity to build your knowledge and understanding of how blood pressure is regulated in the body, as well as the key factors that can contribute to hypertension.
The second module focuses on Learning Disabilities, Learning Difficulties, and Neurodiversity. This learning is designed to raise awareness and encourage us all to reflect on how small, thoughtful adjustments to our approach can make our programmes more accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for everyone.
Next steps
With the new Durham Stop Smoking contract launching in April, our focus over the next six weeks will be on mobilisation planning to ensure everything is in place for a smooth and successful start.
Alongside this, we’re preparing to relaunch our Level 3 Safeguarding Adults workshop. Previously, this training was completed by our Safeguarding Champions only. However, in line with the Royal College of Nursing safeguarding role guidance, Level 3 safeguarding (for both adults and children) will now be a requirement for all staff who work directly with children, including Stop Smoking Advisors and Child Weight Management Practitioners. We’ll be contacting the relevant teams over the coming months to share workshop dates and further details.
How can you help?
I’m really pleased to share that a number of you responded to our recent call for support in creating learning content on health-related topics. I’ve now had initial conversations with each of you, and it’s been fantastic to see the depth of knowledge and genuine passion for health that we have across TT. If you’re interested in getting involved, there’s still plenty of opportunity to do so. Please email me directly at [email protected] to let me know which health related topic you would be interested in supporting.
