Our Next Charity Partner - Voting Open
Trev
Head of People & Internal Communications
A huge thank you to everyone who nominated a charity to become our next charity partner throughout 2024. The response we had was amazing, with so many worthy charities being nominated! Although many charities had multiple nominations, we can now reveal that there are 12 different charities that you can now vote on in the round 1 voting process.
To vote for your charity, please click the button below and cast your vote for your chosen charity. Round 1 voting closes on November 23rd at 5pm.
The 12 nominated charities are, with the reason they were nominated are:
1.
Lowland Search and Rescue is made up of area volunteers that support the police and other search organisations for missing people and those in distress. They are often called out to look for missing children, people with dementia or for those with suicidal thoughts. They support the police with water searches and local communities that are experiencing flooding. Teams are 100% volunteer led and are called out day or night; many volunteers do this alongside their day jobs. They rely on donations to fund their equipment (such as their control van, boat, communication / GPS equipment) all of which they would not be able to function without. My husband has been a volunteer with Search and Rescue for over 10 years and I get to hear of the amazing and often emotionally difficult work they do. Supporting this charity would help them to continue their outstanding work.
2.
Getting a diagnosis of cancer as a teenager/young adult, turns you and your families world upside down. At a time when you are studying for important exams, starting on career paths and developing relationships you also have to deal with a Cancer diagnosis. Teenagers are often the forgotten age group, and especially when it comes to health care. The teenage cancer Trust are amazing and ensure young people have someone in their corner from the start. Their nurses and youth workers walk with young people from diagnosis and through every step of their treatment and up to two years after enabling them to recover and live life to the full. I want to say a personal 'thank you', hence my nomination.
3.
They help so many young people move through challenging times and develop in to confident adults.
4.
They provide a wide range of support and information for people with heart conditions, online and with cardiac units. They advocate healthy living and offer huge amounts of information and learning. As a family, we have received support from them and I'd like to nominate them for the Thrive Tribe to support.
5.
I worked with TackleAfrica in Tanzania, they do great things for the most deprived communities in the world in a way that very much aligns with our vision - They use football and sport as a vehicle to communicate health messages in Africa, in particular HIV safety and sexual health.
6.
Alzheimer's is the biggest killer in the UK so raising awareness and raising funds to help support the charity and the work they do would be incredibly beneficial to so many families.
7.
This charity is very personal to me. 70,000 adults & children in the UK may have PKD a life threatening inherited condition that can cause renal failure and affect other organs in the body. This charity provides practical and emotional support and advice to patients and their families. One of the ways they can do this is by funding research that will increase the understanding of PKD. PKD causes fluid filled cysts to form on the kidneys (& liver & pancreas). As they grow, they replace healthy tissue and damage kidney function. The kidneys can become 4 times larger and up to 100 times heavier. This disease is responsible for 1 in 10 people on dialysis and 1 in 7 transplants. It can also cause heart and brain damage. PKD affected my Nana, my Mum and I have also inherited it and am approaching the need for transplant/dialysis. Research is the only way to stop the progression of PKD and transform the lives of those affected now and in the future. Please consider this small charity. Thank you.
8.
We would like to nominate Black Woman Rising for the work they do educating the community, offering vital help, information and practical advice for people of the BAME community who have been diagnosed with cancer.
9.
After hearing the recent comment by a politician claiming that being homeless was a lifestyle choice I found myself so incensed with anger that I felt compelled to nominate a homeless charity. Living in Hastings and witnessing the sadness of homeless people on the streets I feel they need so much help. Everyone has the right to a safe home. Shelter help the most vulnerable in society, including young children and their families. Due to the cost of living and shocking state and scarcity of rental properties in the UK its only getting worse. Having a safe home and security makes so much difference to people and is a fundamental right in one of the richest countries on the world.
10.
Millions of people are touched by Autism. And if you know 1 person with Autism, you only know one person. It varies massively and affects people differently.

I work in Cornwall on the NDPP and have been working closely with Diabetes UK and met some of their representatives at engagement days. They have always been very supportive and helpful in our goal in prevention of diabetes. As a company we have now been successful in gaining further contracts for prevention of Diabetes so I feel that their is a close link between us as a company and Diabetes UK as a charity. Therefore it would be good to go a step further and have them as our partner charity. Thanks.

This charity is incredibly important to me, it's helped both me and my family to cope with the loss of my mum 2 years ago who a herself unfortunately lost her battle with her own mental health. Advocating for and supporting people with mental health is also one of the reasons that I joined TT and gloji because of the fact that we prioritise 'mind' within our pillars, I'm also a huge advocate for encouraging physical activity to help improve mental health and have used running as a way to fundraise for them in the past in running events. I feel therefore their cause aligns very closely with our mission as a result, it would also mean a great deal to me to know that the company I work for only supports people day to day on the ground but also financially supports a charity that does incredible work too, I often signpost clients who struggle here along with to the GP and of course you can count on me to get involved with fundraising where I can.
