Ask the Expert

A few weeks ago we launched our "Ask the Expert" as an opportunity to ask members of the central team questions about the business, policies etc. I am pleased to say we have received our first two questions.

Is there an eye test policy where the company makes a contribution to the cost of glasses please?

We do not have a stand alone policy for eye tests, however if you are a DSE user you can expense the cost of your eye test in the usual way through Xero – we ask that this is up to the value of £25, which is the usual price of an eye test in somewhere like Specsavers. Please ensure you upload a copy of your receipt.

Stay up to date with our Health and Safety Policy and complete our Display Screen Equipment Guidance Form which can be found on Totem carrying out any necessary actions such as checking the screen is well positioned and properly adjusted and lighting conditions are suitable. Taking regular breaks from screen work is also beneficial. If you require a specialist prescription for the distance the screen is at, and an ordinary prescription is not suitable, please consult your line manager. In these instances, we would need a statement from your optician explaining this.

How should we as services treat subject access requests and other requests from client's for full data?

You may on occasion receive a request from a service user or employee regarding how Thrive Tribe store and manage their data. A few key points to be aware of: Requests must be made in writing and responses should be made within a month of receipt. However extensions of up to two months can be made if the request is complex; if an extension is made the data subject must be informed within the first month. Finally Thrive Tribe cannot charge a fee for these requests, however TT can charge a reasonable fee for any additional copies of information that have already been supplied.
