Treat all data as need to know and scale down what you’re working with where appropriate.

For example, if you’re using a reporting tool on our software (Line Listing in 1S4H), extract only the data needed for the task, don’t work with more than what’s necessary to complete your task. The same applies to who you’re sharing data with, if you do need to send client data to someone, think of who you include in that message and if they really need to see that data.

Generally, a good rule of thumb is to be cautious and sensible with data, to treat your client’s information with respect, but don’t be afraid to communicate with your colleagues (internal and external) about your clients, if it’s part of providing good patient care. Just ensure that it is done securely and ask if in any doubt.
