See the latest way we're reducing CO2
Oliver
We are continuously looking for new ways to reduce the environmental impact that we all have, and a big part of this is to reduce the levels of CO2 that are produced by running our support services across the country.
Here are a few ways that we currently adopt to reduce our CO2 levels are:
- Using as environmentally friendly office spaces as possible for teams requiring office space.
- Reducing our levels of driving by utilising public transport, and offering incentives that promote greener travel methods - Cycle to Work scheme for example.
- If driving can't be avoided, then promoting car sharing as much as possible.
- Promoting reducing single use plastic within our offices, and all office space having recycling bins an clear signage.
- Planting trees for all new starters at Thrive Tribe, and continuing to increase the level we plant new trees over the coming years.
A new way that we have found that an significantly reduce our operating levels of CO2 production is around our use of technology, and the associated supply chains of this.
We already have a partnership with GreenSafeIT that allows all of our broken or redundant technology to be recycled. The new initiative is to use refurbished technology for IT replacements as this has a significant reduction in CO2 production levels. For example; purchasing a new laptop it is suggested this will create a huge 290kg of CO2 per laptop. A refurbished laptop, however, only creates 15kg of CO2. Therefore this is a huge saving of 275kg of CO2 per laptop! This is equivalent to planting an additional 11 trees per laptop!!!!
With these levels of reduction in CO2, we are keen to implement this as soon as possible, and reduce our levels of CO2 production as quickly as possible.
