Software Updates

Updates are pushed out to all company owned laptops and this will continue to happen as normal however, you will not be able to snooze them for any longer than 7 days. If you keep snoozing the update, your laptop will force install the update on the 7th day – This may result in you losing your work as the laptop will restart as part of the update.

Software updates are necessary to keep devices running smoothly, lower security vulnerabilities, prevent security issues and improve compatibility and program features.

Windows 11 Update

We will soon be rolling out a windows 11 update, which is the latest Windows operating system. I will share details of when this is scheduled in the coming days, Main things to note here are:

• The update may not happen for your laptop if your machine is a few years old. We will look at upgrading those machines in the coming months but for now, please don’t worry if this happens to be for your machine.
• The update may take upto 2 hours to install, you will have a window of time in which to install it (several days) so you can do so when convenient for you – I will share more information soon.
• The main difference you will notice is the new interface e.g. The taskbar's buttons are center-aligned by default. You can read more about windows 11 and it’s comparison with windows 10 here
