Dare to Care - More Stories Behind the Dares!

Rosie
Head of People
Thanks to all of your generosity, and that of your friends and family, we have now reached our second fundraising milestone of £750! That means that more and more of you will be starting to complete your dares over the comings weeks and we can’t wait to see them (the pictures above are from some dares already completed)!
Here are a few more inspiring stories behind the dares that some of you have signed up to;
Katie Ferrett I enjoy all kinds of exercise outdoors and home workouts but the one thing I have never really enjoyed or been able to keep up is running. So I have committed myself to running every other day while keeping up my other exercise so I can reach my goal of running 10K in one session. The first several weeks of training are proving to be difficult but I feel better physically and mentally afterwards and it helps set me up for the day ahead. My technique is to not give myself the choice, I don’t let myself talk myself out of it! I just put on a podcast, wrap up warm and run! Then I treat myself to a cup of tea when I get back!
Trevor MealingThe reason I am doing my dare, is I want to support such an amazing charity, and the families they support with their priceless work! I’m happy to endure some pain and discomfort to raise funds for their work! Let’s face it, the discomfort I experience doing my dares, will be nothing compared to that of some of the families who need the help from Shooting Starts.
Pam BothwellI was really passionate about joining in to complete some dares in the 'Dare to Care Challenge', in order to support Shooting Stars Children's Hospice. I live in Surrey and am aware of the great work they do, but one of my sisters is also a play therapist at a children's hospice, so I know first hand the struggles there have been for hospices during the Pandemic. Dying my hair pink appealed to my rather outgoing nature and my love of dressing up, and after having it shaved off for our previous charity partner, I thought I could continue with the hair theme. Plus, I've secretly always fancied dying it pink but never had any reason to do it.
Karen DaviesBeing a Mum of 4, who is so grateful that none of them have suffered with serious illness, a way to say thank you and support others.I love cycling and regularly cycle 20-30km (in good weather!) this dare gives me a chance to step outside my 'comfort zone' and challenge myself to train a bit more, achieve a bit more and stay a bit more connected to my TT colleagues in these virtual days!
There’s still time to sign up to your own dares, and continue to share our JustGiving page so we can meet our next target!
