The world of co-production

If you’re wondering what co-production is, NHS England have a great video to explain it:
Successful co-production means navigating new types of relationships where power and decision making are shared. We start by having open honest conversations about how we work together. It’s essential to recognise that we all bring equally valuable skills, knowledge and assets to the relationship. It’s easy to feel uncomfortable and overwhelmed when our familiar ways of behaving are disrupted.
When we see a storm brewing, we can feel an overwhelming urge to take control, give up or blame other people for being disruptive or difficult. Can we learn to be more curious and shine a light on what’s happening without looking to blame?
Being able to hold different opinions and disagreements without feeling defensive or shamed helps us to co-produce better.
Co-productive partnerships don’t just arrive spontaneously, they need to be nurtured and facilitated through open communication and active listening. When we engage as equals, we begin to see what each other can contribute. We share vulnerabilities, we bond, and our work becomes richer and more innovative.
