Do you need ‘Business Use’ on your car insurance?

Just a quick reminder that if you use your car to drive for work, you need to ensure that you have arranged business use with your vehicle insurance provider.
An easy way to check whether this applies to you is to ask yourself whether you claim mileage? If you do (even if this is infrequently), this means you’re driving for work and require business use on your car insurance. If you do not have the correct level of cover, this can invalidate your insurance and your insurance company could refuse to pay out if you’re involved in an accident.
Please note, commuting (travelling to and from your usual place of work, a journey which you would not claim mileage) does not require business use. Most insurers have a ‘social and commuting’ option which covers this type of usage.
If you have any questions about this, or you’re unsure whether this applies to you, please speak with your line manager in the first instance.

Heya, is the extra cost of taking out business insurance possible to claim back through expenses?
