Black Baby Loss Awareness Week

Our charity partner - Tommy's is hosting a national awareness campaign this week: Black Baby Loss Awareness Week, which will take place from Monday 15th – Friday 19th May.
Founded by Alicia Burnett, a registered midwife with lived experience of pregnancy and baby loss, Black Baby Loss Awareness week aims to raise Black communities’ awareness of professionals and services providing care and support after pregnancy and baby loss. This awareness event was created in response to Black and Black Mixed- Heritage women and babies in the UK being disproportionately impacted by poor pregnancy outcomes. Whilst most Black and Black mixed women have successful pregnancies and healthy babies, they are 43% more likely to experience miscarriage and 50% more likely to experience stillbirth.
This awareness week is to place a spotlight on the service providers that can help Black families during such a difficult time. Alicia, with Tommy's support is running a series of Instagram Lives throughout this week, which it would be great if we can show our collective Thrive Tribe support and attend and engage with some of these. The schedules is as follows:
If you or anybody you know has so sadly experienced this, and would like some support, Tommy's fantastic team of midwives have recently set up a helpline for Black and Black Mixed - Heritage women, offering 1:1 support to help with any aspect of pregnancy, including loss, and support with making informed choices about care.
