Baby Loss Awareness Week

Head of Internal Communication
This Sunday, 9th October, marks the start of Baby Loss Awareness Week. This is the most important event of the year to our charity partner, Tommy's, as they raise vital funds and awareness of the work they do and the scale of pregnancy and baby loss - did you know that 1 in 4 of your colleagues, friends and family will experience the loss of a baby in their lifetime?
What is Baby Loss Awareness Week?
Baby Loss Awareness Week (9- 15 October) is a time for bereaved parents, and their families and friends, to come together in remembrance of their babies’ lives. The week also raises awareness of how pregnancy and baby loss affects thousands of families each year. BLAW is recognised across the world and culminates with the ’Wave of Light’ on Saturday 15 October. This is a special moment when people across the world light a candle at 7pm local time and leave it burning to remember all the babies who have sadly died too soon. Let’s take time to remember and support each other this Baby Loss Awareness Week – and together, take the next steps to end preventable baby loss.
What can you do to help?
- You can help raise awareness, you can download the above image on the link below and use this on your social media accounts during BLAW.
- In your local service, you could organise a 'listening lunch' for your colleagues to come together and share their own experiences of loss and remember their babies.
-Light a candle during the wave of light and share a photo on social media - sign up for a reminder here.
- Raising funds is as important as ever, so you could either take part in a fundraising activity, or donate here.
