Achieve's Men's Health Partnership

Jared

Wow, today is the end of my sixth week working with the Achieve Oxfordshire team, and what an exciting and insightful time it has been. In this short amount of time, I have had the opportunity to network with some fantastic organisations and meet some very interesting and influential people.
A large part of my role has been to evaluate and reflect on our service and the programmes we offer, and more specifically how we can make our service more male inclusive. To begin to understand how I can do this, I wanted to hear the voices and opinions of men who have been through our service, which is why I created a questionnaire. This questionnaire aims to gather information on the barriers that men face accessing weight loss services, along with their ideas and aspirations for what they would like a service to look like. Moving forward, I will use this information to make our service more inclusive and attractive to males.
Another large body of work I have been working on, alongside my colleague Mia, is around the Oxfordshire Men's Health Partnership. Following on from our successful Men's Health webinar in May, which generated a large amount of interest, it was apparent that many people felt passionate about men's health and we wanted to form a platform where we can continue to network, learn and engage. To facilitate this, Mia and I are working hard to build the Oxfordshire Men's Health Partnership and although it's in its early stages, we are excited about working collectively with local organisations to improve male engagement.
One of the amazing things about working for Thrive Tribe is the ability to get involved with other projects outside of your service. It is great to work for an organisation that utilizes people's wider skillset and recognises individual strengths. As a nutritionist, I was keen to get involved in designing recipes for Gloji and I was quickly invited to get involved.
So, that's a review of some of the work I have done over my short period with Achieve Oxfordshire. As you can see there is plenty of scope for the future and I am excited to see where the next few months take me!
